The Provincial Government of People’s Power in Ciego de Ávila will implement a supervision plan regarding retail and wholesale price increases on essential products, following a joint analysis with specialists and in response to public feedback and complaints.
In a meeting chaired by Governor Alfre Menéndez, authorities determined to exchange views with non-state management enterprises (FGNE) dedicated to the import and marketing of these items, to review key aspects such as the use of electronic payment channels, cost sheets, reference market prices and the current exchange rate, to safeguard citizens’ interests.
As part of the measures, the creation of working groups was instructed to operate from the provincial level down to the municipalities, tasked with monitoring and controlling what has been agreed.

The Avilanian Executive stated that it will keep the population informed through the territory’s communication media and institutional pages on digital social networks, given their mass reach.
Price oversight acquires special relevance in light of the progressive increases reported by the population, as this is not merely an administrative review, but an essential mechanism to curb speculative distortions and protect families’ purchasing power.
Recent citizen complaints reveal a perceived imbalance between actual costs and final prices for essential products, which obliges the State to exercise its regulatory role rigorously.
By supervising cost sheets, verifying the correct use of the exchange rate and contrasting market benchmarks, the aim is to guarantee transparency in the commercialisation chain and dismantle any practice that undermines equity.
In this sense, timely control not only contributes to restoring public confidence in institutions, but also lays the foundations for local economic stability that prioritises collective well-being over particular interests.
