Today’s defence of the unity of the Bolivarian Revolution was one of the consensus points of the ALBA Movements National Meeting, Venezuela chapter, which took place in Caracas for two days.
More than 37 Venezuelan social movements and 40 communes stressed the importance of consolidating this revolutionary process, which is facing the blockade imposed by the United States and more than 900 unilateral coercive measures.
The meeting approved a political document against imperialism and fascism, which called for the strengthening of Popular Power as a centre for the integration of grassroots organisations.
The text pointed out that the meeting was called to strengthen the unity of the Venezuelan popular movement «from its beautiful and powerful diversity around the defence of the Bolivarian Revolution and more concretely on the communal road to socialism».
They also agreed to deliver the document to the country in order to communicate the Revolution «with our contributions for this new stage of transition to socialism and for the National Congress of the Historic Bloc», which will take place next week.
The participants declared themselves in active and permanent struggle against the imperialist agenda and fascism that seeks, through violence, discrimination and denial of Chavism, to take away the political power legitimately won with the popular victory of President Nicolás Maduro.
The purpose of this meeting was to build a common agenda of struggle that «from now on will be carried out in different regions of the country in order to expand and strengthen the organisation and the radius of action» of ALBA Movimientos, chapter Venezuela.
The social movements agreed to hold a symposium on «Communicating ALBA» at the end of November, whose contributions will be taken to the Summit of Heads of State and Government of ALBA-TCP to be held in December in the context of the 20th anniversary of the integration bloc.
The executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, said that to speak of the communalisation of our peoples is to speak of decolonisation and to go back to Simón Rodríguez, to his originality and his project.
«It is from this territory, he said, that we are able to definitively change the structure of the social and economic order.
Arreaza said that in Venezuela we are in a war and we have to go and guarantee the spaces of the Revolution for the Revolution, «we cannot hand over power to the right next year,» he said, referring to the regional elections of 2025.
The imperialist aggression with its assassination attempts and violent agenda, he said, must be fought from the communalisation, the union of the people, the workers in the countryside, with productive and political alliances of all sectors of society, according to a press release from ALBA-TCP.
