It is an example of a socialist state enterprise that we need to generalise, stressed Misael Rodríguez Llanes, general secretary of the National Union of Construction Workers, at the ratification ceremony of the National Vanguard collective.
The Empresa de Materiales de Construcción (Avilmat) in Ciego de Ávila was the first company in the country to be approved for the category of National Vanguard for its comprehensive results in 2023, among more than 225 entities, 1,400 basic business units and 2,200 MSMEs in the construction sector, according to Misael Rodríguez Llanes, secretary general of the National Union of Construction Workers.
At the recent ceremony presided over by Julio Gómez Casanova, first secretary of the Party in the territory of Avila; Alfre Menéndez Pérez, governor, and other leaders, Rodríguez Llanes stressed that the organisation known as Avilmat «is the model of socialist state enterprise that needs to be generalised in the process of recovery of the Cuban economy», he emphasised.
In this sense, he gave as examples the stability of the workforce with the strength of being one of the first in the nation to put into operation a children’s house for the children of working mothers; the elimination of dirt floors in the homes of some of its workers and the creation of an orchard that has the challenge of extending the areas and diversifying production to declare itself in food sovereignty for the welfare of the workforce.
In addition to ratifying the company for six years in the highest category of trade union emulation, Mariset Hernández Rodríguez, member of the Provincial Secretariat of the CTC, presented at the meeting the certificate of outstanding centre in the fulfilment of the tasks of the 22nd Congress of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba, to the Unidad Empresarial de Base Hormigón y Terrazo, located in the municipality of Morón.
