The 1st Scientific Convention of the Hospital Provincial General Docente Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola in Ciego de Ávila, which runs until 16 November, is a unique opportunity for professionals in the sector in the province to deepen their knowledge on the updating of procedures with a view to comprehensive patient care.
This event has a scientific-research-educational focus, with a hybrid modality, as it takes place in both face-to-face and virtual exchanges, in which various professionals from the medical sciences, education, the business world and the study of the environment come together.
Dr. Alberto Moronta Enrique, director of the Luaces Iraola and president of the Organising Committee of the convention, said that «during these days we will have the opportunity to listen to experts, participate in workshops, discuss the challenges we face in the field of health. I am convinced that together we can find innovative and effective solutions.
I hope that this event will be a space for learning, reflection and, above all, inspiration to move forward with the noble mission of saving lives,» added Moronta Enrique.
According to Dr. Jorge Luis Carrera Martínez, president of the event’s Scientific Committee, participants include delegates from several Cuban provinces and also from abroad, as well as representatives of scientific societies and more than 16 medical specialties.
The impact of the event will be to bring all this knowledge to the specialists of the province, to interact with professors from other Cuban regions, and to see how the health system is moving, the diseases, new treatments and updates, in order to reach a consensus and improve the quality of life of patients, said Carrera Martínez.
In addition, the convention will feature a dozen keynote lectures, numerous workshops, symposiums and associated scientific conferences such as: the IV Angiology and Vascular Surgery (Angiocav 2024), Cardiology (CardioAvila 2024), National Gastroenterology (GastroAvila 2024), Territorial Urology (Urocentro 2024), and Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation (AnestAvila 2024).
On Thursday morning, two keynote lectures were held at the Avila hospital, the first focused on the novel use of artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical diagnostics and the second outlined how the impact of scientific publications can be improved.
