In an exercise of full participatory democracy, the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power in Ciego de Ávila was constituted, with Viviana Martínez Cárdenas as President and Yaima Guerrero Miurt as Vice President.

At the meeting, Kirenia Ares Falcón was appointed Secretary, being the first time since its creation that the leadership of this body is made up of women in the avilanian capital city. Out of a total of 124 delegates, 47.6% are women, thus demonstrating their leading role in the economic, political and social development of the country.

Speaking at the session, Julio Heriberto Gómez Casanova, first secretary of the PCC in this territory, congratulated the elected comrades and predicted that 2023 will be a year full of hard work, which requires creativity and confidence that we will move forward.

With the inauguration of the 547 district delegates in the province, the 10 assemblies in Ciego de Ávila were constituted in solemn ceremonies held on Saturday, December 17.

According to the Constitution of the Republic, the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power is the highest organ of State power in its demarcation and, consequently, is vested with the highest authority in its territory and is renewed every five years.
