The National Baseball Commission informed today that its Disciplinary Commission is analysing the incident that occurred on 27 September between the manager of Sancti Spíritus, Eriel Sánchez, and the technical commissioner Miguel Rojas, without advancing sanctions

Although the investigations continue and the responsibilities have not been confirmed, this episode constitutes an inadmissible affront to the essence of Cuban baseball. No provocation justifies violence, much less when it comes from figures called to be examples of respect and leadership

Baseball is a cultural heritage and a symbol of national identity; allowing aggressions on its grounds would mean opening the door to impunity and sowing a dangerous message for athletes and fans

For this reason, it falls to the authorities to act with rigour and transparency, guaranteeing that the discipline and honour of the sport prevail over any violent conduct
