The 26th of July square in Majagua was the venue on Tuesday morning for a ceremony in southwest Avila on the 71st anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks.
The political-cultural meeting was preceded by a parade that departed along República Street, from areas close to the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, led by the main authorities of the territory together with the member of the Provincial Bureau Bárbara Guerra Pérez and followed by the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution and the people in general.
As part of the programme, a total of 13 groups received awards for fulfilling the commitments dedicated to such a significant date, a group made up of the Department of Pre-University Education, the Sports Department, the UEB of Aqueduct and Sewerage, the Department of Culture, the Petroleum Production Unit, the UEB «La Marquesita» and the «Pista Joven», as well as the CPA Panchito Gómez Toro, the CCS Reinal Manning, the UBPC Cabrera, the Casa de los Abuelos, the Maternal Home and Materias Primas.
The invited artists offered the best of themselves in their performances and the occasion was the occasion to present a special recognition for his lifelong work in favour of the culture of the municipality to the poet and researcher Gilfredo Boan Pina, who is celebrating his birthday on this date.
Denier Bertolis Pérez, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the territory, called in the conclusions to maintain the Unity between the factors with the objective of advancing in the economic and social development to overcome the adversities that the enemies of the Revolution want to use in their favour.
