The multidisciplinary team of the Assisted Reproduction Program of the province of Ciego de Avila has achieved so far this year the figure of 90 pregnancies in couples with infertility.
At present, more than 150 new couples have joined the program and are undergoing the indicated investigations and treatments to try to achieve the desired conception.
Patients from Ciego de Avila go through different levels of research and today a group continues their studies at the Gustavo Aldereguia Hospital, in Cienfuegos, and another group is treated at the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital, in Havana.
The procedures to treat infertility are complex and expensive in the world, however, on the island they are offered free of charge, for the benefit of the population, like all health services.
The Assisted Reproduction Program contributes to the modification of the demographic context, which in Cuba is characterized by a low birth rate.
