The 2022 Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola Grand Prize in Medicine went to Dr. Dunia Sotolongo Díaz for her scientific work in Medical Education.

Entitled «Ability to diagnose dermatological diseases in residents of the dermatology specialty», this award-winning research was conducted and applied in the provincial hospital of Ciego de Ávila.

This Grand Prize is awarded every year by the Health Directorate to stimulate and recognize professionals dedicated to research on medical topics of incidence in the territory.

In this edition, three mentions were awarded due to the importance of the works presented and these were «Giardinium in adults with urticarial syndrome due to giardia» by doctor and Master in Science Yelec Estrada Guerra, in the category of applied research.

«Virtual didactic mediators for the management of scientific information in residents of medical specialties», by MsC Dinora García Martín, was also recognized.

The third mention was awarded to Dr. Jorge Luis Carrera Martínez, with the scientific work of Medical Education entitled «Professional improvement of the angiologist for the treatment of peripheral vascular diseases».

Every year, health professionals are recognized for their dedication to research and study of the problems of the health sector in the province of Ciego de Ávila.
