And democracy dressed of love and hope this Sunday in Ciego de Ávila, when the more than 500 Delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power in the territory, elected mechanical engineer Alfred Menéndez Pérez, 42 years old, as Governor of the province and the Graduate in Education Giorvanis Espinosa Pérez, 45 years old, for the position of Vice-governor.

Both with a brilliant labor service record, at the time of the new appointment Alfred Menéndez had been serving since 2018 as General Director of the Construction Company of works for Tourism in Cayo Coco, while as of 2021 Giorvanis Espinosa held the portfolio Coordinator of Programs and Objective in the Provincial Government.

The ceremony had its central stage in the Party theater of the main city, which was attended by Liván Izquierdo Alonso, member of the Central Committee and top political leader in the region, Deputy Jorge Luis Perdomo Dilella, Vice-Prime Minister of the Republic , and other senior government and state officials at different levels.

Prior to the final result, several representatives of the people issued separate criteria about the values that the young elected leaders group, at the proposal of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez.

Among them, Alberto Fernández Pérez, Mirtha Doyle and Viviana Martínez Cárdenas gave a speech, who highlighted the intelligence, dedication to work and the close ties that as leaders they establish at the base, as well as the energy that distinguishes them due to their youth.
