The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, warned of new violent plans orchestrated by the ultra-right for next Saturday, it was reported today in Caracas.
In his weekly nightly programme Con el Mazo Dando, the political leader linked the denunciation to the call made by the opposition and disqualified politician María Corina Machado for people to take to the streets on August 17 in a national and global protest.
A letter read out on the programme alerted Cabello to «two plans of violence in full swing», one of which is led by Magalli Meda, who is in asylum in the Argentine embassy in Caracas after her involvement in assassination attempts against President Nicolás Maduro was denounced.
The deputy to the National Assembly (Parliament) said he has information on criminals who were paid and «came across the border to harm their own people; we are warning them in advance», he added.
He pointed out that they have contact with «people from outside, Álvaro Uribe (former Colombian president) and groups of hired assassins», and indicated that «for Saturday they are looking for people to generate violence and kill their own people».
In this regard, he showed an audio of a dialogue between two criminals, in which, he said, «part of what they want to do is documented».
The information provided was about a person arrested with a shipment of methamphetamines, which would be used in the alleged protests on Saturday in the parish of Petare (east of Caracas), and belongs to a self-styled group «Comanditos Motorizados Vente Venezuela».
In the dialogue, the delinquents speak of «rescuing the Pepas (drugs) that make you dream» and «as I’m telling you mano, this protest is a pussy mano, we are going to unleash hatred so that they can see our faces, this protest is going to turn into madness».
«Mano on August 17 is the thing, here we are going to change the history of Venezuela» and they say they are putting together a group of 500, «I’m calling it a cause there, we are going all out and we don’t believe in anyone, we don’t believe in a world protest, nothing, here there is going to be unrest and disaster».
We’re going to turn on all the Chavistas we can get and hopefully the blacks will arrive «to pay for it once and for all with a bit of lead in the face…».
The day before, President Nicolás Maduro announced the capture of one of the people who financed the guarimbas of 29 and 30 July in Petare, in whose house they found a large amount of money and drugs.
The president declared that this individual was the one who «ordered the most to burn and paid» and in the raided house, following a court order, they found boxes of a pill called Captagon, «produced by the United States for its mercenary soldiers».
