Cuban experts are participating in the World Health Organisation workshop on international regulatory cooperation for herbal medicines in Ghaziabad, India, Prensa Latina reported.
The event runs from today until Friday with specialists from Bhutan, Brunei, Ghana, Indonesia, Japan, Nepal, Paraguay, Poland, Sri Lanka, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
Brazil, Egypt and the United States join virtually in this workshop organised by India’s Ministry of Ayush.
The primary objective is strengthening international regulatory capacity for herbal medicines.
The workshop serves as a platform for international cooperation and technical exchange regarding traditional medicine.
Participants will analyse aspects of safety, regulation, efficacy and intended use of herbal medicines in working groups.
They will receive practical training in herbal medicine identification, heavy metal analysis and chemioprofiles.
The Ayush Suraksha Programme aimed at strengthening safety surveillance of traditional medicines will be presented.
Delegates will visit the National Institute of Unani Medicine in Ghaziabad and the All India Institute of Ayurveda in New Delhi.
With participation from regulatory authorities and experts across all continents, contributions towards harmonising global standards are anticipated.
