The Doctor José Assef Yara University of Medical Sciences in Ciego de Ávila received the Latir Avileño distinction for the fourth time, in recognition of the results of its pedagogical and research work.

The motto of its daily work is «Developmental University, which embraces its dreams towards excellence" and under this precept it graduates hundreds of doctors, stomatologists and health technologists in various specialities every year.

Also worthy of Latir Avileño status was the Avileño Pharmacy and Optical company, which on its twelfth anniversary was declared a National Distinguished Collective, in recognition of its public management, despite the lack of supplies and the difficulties the country is experiencing.

The Ciego de Avila branch of Cuban Medical Services was another of the institutions in the province that received the Latir Avileño distinction for its efficient management and its material contribution to the health sector.
