Young people, outstanding in study, production and defense, returned today along the roads of history, by reediting the caravan of freedom that, led by the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, arrived in the avilanian lands on January 5, 1959.
In the municipality of Baraguá, on the border with the province of Camagüey, the caravan took place in the presence of local political leaders and combatants of the Rebel Army.
Already in the capital city, where the bearded men used to stop, Naylin Machado, first secretary of the Young Communist League (UJC) in the province, highlighted the validity of the principles that encouraged the revolutionaries of that time to defend the sovereignty of the nation.
Today, she said, the commitment of youth is greater, who, inspired by Fidel’s example, are working to earn the trust of the generation that fought to restore hope to the people.
The blockade and the constant siege of the enemy, she pointed out, must lead young people to think as a country and fulfill the task they have in each sphere to defend the conquests, which were the ones dreamed by those guerrillas.
During the ceremony, presided over by the highest authorities of the territory, headed by Liván Izquierdo Alonso, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province, the UJC card was given to several outstanding young people and the National Revolutionary Police was recognized on the anniversary of its creation.
Patriotic songs and poems enlivened the meeting, which recalls a transcendental moment of joy and victory.
