A few hours before the celebration throughout Cuba of January 14, Electricity Sector Workers’ Day, a provincial ceremony was held in Ciego de Ávila to commemorate this historic date and to encourage the most outstanding individual and collective emulation during the past year.
Sulema Véliz Pina, general secretary of the Provincial Bureau of the Energy and Mines Workers Union, informed that 15 women and men with a relevant trajectory during 20 and 25 years of uninterrupted work were awarded with the Ñico López distinction.
The trade unionist argued that special recognition was given to five linemen, drivers and operators of electric substations with 40 years of work in work centers in the municipalities of Morón, Venezuela and Bolivia.
During the provincial ceremony for the Electricity Workers’ Day, in the avilanian capital city, the collectives of the Base Business Units that stood out in tasks of social impact in 2022 were also recognized, a stage in which the Avilanian Contingent that contributed to restore energy to the inhabitants of Pinar del Río and La Habana, affected by hurricane Ian, stood out.
