With a political-cultural gala that will take place at the emblematic Teatro Reguero in the city of Morón, the radio station’s collective will commemorate the 75th anniversary of its first broadcasts on the night of 19 November.
Radio Morón’s website and social media profiles announce a show with performances by renowned local artists and groups, as well as a tribute to outstanding workers.
To mark the celebration, the station has developed an extensive programme of activities, with the participation of institutions and organisations of the territory, and an extensive popular representation that demonstrates the recognition and attachment to this radio signal, identified with the slogan «Everyday life in sound image».
The schedule included a parade on the opening day, which took place last Thursday, and other activities this weekend included a children’s carnival, with numerous attractions for the little ones, and a performance by the Municipal Concert Band, which delighted the public with the traditional retreta, this time in front of Radio Morón.
Traditional Cuban and Mexican music, still popular with the local public and with slots in the radio station’s programming, will also be part of the festivities, to the delight of the radio broadcasters and the people of Morón.
The music-dance group Fanm Zetwal, part of the catalogue of the Empresa Comercializadora de la Música y los Espectáculos Musicávila and artistic unit of the socio-cultural project Yambambó, will also join in the celebration, displaying their best performances and elements of national culture.
This important anniversary becomes an opportunity for learning and exchange in order to improve the work, therefore, a theoretical event on radio information was convened, which is expected to be attended by press workers, eager to improve their techniques, in line with current trends in radio.
The workers of this media work every day to meet the demands and expectations of an audience recognised for their loyalty to this signal transmitted from the centre-north of Cuba.
Anelys Rodríguez Morales, director of Radio Morón, recently highlighted on the social network Facebook the efforts of her collective and the local authorities to improve the exterior and interior image of the building occupied by the radio station, recognised as the cradle of relevant professionals of the word in the country, who have contributed to the denomination of Ciego de Ávila as Capital of Cuban Broadcasting.
