The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) continue to deploy in the inhospitable places of Venezuela for the transfer, custody and safeguarding of electoral material for the presidential elections of 28 July, with 11 days remaining today.
In accordance with the National Council’s (CNE) schedule, the FANB began the day before the transfer of the logistics that will be in the voting centres in these distant parts of the country, announced the Strategic Operational Commander of the FANB, Domingo Hernández.
The high command pointed out that with this they were contributing «with the Electoral Power to guarantee the political rights of Venezuelans».
He wrote in his message: «We are on our way to the inhospitable places of the homeland, in accordance with the CNE’s electoral timetable.
For the presidential elections at the end of the month, the Electoral Power will set up some 15,800 polling stations across the country, where a total of 21,620,705 voters will have to turn out.
In other news, the electoral campaign continued this Tuesday with the deployment of the 10 candidates in cities and towns, which in the case of the candidate Nicolás Maduro was limited to the capital, where he went to the parish of La Vega, in Caracas.
There he was received by thousands of his followers, to whom he declared that on 28 July they will give a lesson vote by vote because victory is in the hands of the patriotic people to build a prosperous future for all.
He remarked that on that day they will give a victory to Commander Hugo Chávez (1954-2013) for his 70th birthday and once again the people will emerge victorious to say: viva Venezuela my beloved homeland.
The head of state stressed that they will not allow themselves to be «robbed of the right to the future» and will preserve the path of changes and transformations that we have been building. «They thought that with criminal sanctions we were going to surrender, but nobody surrendered here,» he said.
Maduro told those present of his meeting yesterday with opposition leaders who decided to declare themselves independent, and noted that they all agreed that he is «the only option for peace in Venezuela».
And without being able to be verified by an official source, the local press reported that the presidential candidate for the United Democratic Platform, Edmundo González, had health problems while attending a mass in the Virgen del Carmen Church in Petare.
The information published by the digital portal Venezuela News, stated that González, 74, suffered a sudden fainting spell due to a hypertensive crisis, which had no major consequences, but he was under medical supervision.
