As the closing of the World Voluntary Blood Donor Day — celebrated each 14 June — a mass donation took place in constituency 47 of the Roberto Rivas Fraga popular council in Ciego de Ávila.
«The value of a blood donation cannot be measured in millions or in money»: a phrase uttered by Fidel Castro that captures the worth of every drop of blood and is made evident in the men and women of this humanitarian detachment.

Dr Yudelvys Pérez Falcón, director of the Provincial Blood Bank and head of the Blood Programme in the Avilanian territory, highlighted that during the campaign, which began on 6 June, more than 120 donations were achieved in the province.
She highlighted the participation of the municipalities of Bolivia, Morón and Ciego de Ávila at the blood bank, with the support of colleagues from MINFAR and the Education sector.

She also recognised the outstanding work of the donor group from constituency 47, a collective with 56 active members that achieved vanguard status in blood donations.
Pérez Falcón thanked each member for their humanitarian gesture and for donating blood to save lives.
For his part, Julio César Moreno Quintero, delegate of the constituency, thanked the collaboration of economic actors, especially the local development project Los Ramones, for their valuable contribution to the donors.

Moreno Quintero also announced that the commitment for the next 13 August, the centenary of Fidel Castro’s birth, is to reach 100 donors in the group.
