The celebration of the 45th anniversary of the founding of the Máximo Gómez Báez University of Ciego de Ávila, UNICA, began on Tuesday at the university headquarters.

On this first day of activities, professors and workers were awarded for their years of work and dedication to Cuban education.

The medals were awarded in the Aula Magna of the university and the 94th anniversary of the assassination of student leader Julio Antonio Mella was commemorated.

The Máximo Gómez Báez University has graduated hundreds of Cuban and foreign professionals in science, technical and humanities careers, in regular courses, through meetings and distance learning.

UNICA maintains mutual collaboration agreements with counterparts in several countries, in addition to participating in community and productive chaining projects with companies and entities in the province.
