Trinidad won the Baseball Club Champions Tournament

Spirituanos beat Union de Reyes 7×6 supported by a two home run offense

The team from the municipality of Trinidad defeated Union de Reyes (MTZ) 7×6 on Monday and won the crown in the Baseball Champions Club Tournament in Cuba 2024.

This third duel was tied at 6 runs in the ninth inning at the Yumurino 16 de Abril stadium on Sunday afternoon and was sealed there due to rain.

In its resumption on Monday, the Tiburones del Sur scored the seventh and decisive run on an uncontrolled pitch by reliever Reiniel Mijenes, who opened the plate to the runner on third base.

Yanielkis Duardo, the best closer of the past 62 SNB and II Elite Baseball League, pitched the bottom of the ninth without complications. Osvaldo Santiago, who pitched 1.2 spotless innings, won the game.

The winners relied on their long batting, with two home runs included in the seven hits: one by Dunieski Barroso, valid to tow three runs in the first inning, and another by Rodolexis Moreno.

This was the first title for a team from the municipality of Trinidad and the province of Sancti Spíritus.

Previously, the espirituanos had three second place finishes: two by the team from the provincial capital and another from the municipality of Yaguajay.
