Transforming Cuba’s reality will be the focus of Communist Party debates

The search for solutions to transform the reality facing the country today will be one of the central themes of the 7th plenary session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).

The head of the PCC’s Organization Department, Roberto Pérez, told the press that the conclave, to be held on the 15th and 16th, will constitute an integral evaluation and will approve the path to follow, when there are only a few days left for the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

He explained that prior to the plenary session, a broad consultation process was carried out on the documents that will be submitted for debate in more than 34 thousand meetings.

On the agenda of the forum is the evaluation of the ideological work in compliance with the ideas, concepts and guidelines of the Eighth Congress of the political organization and the guidelines of the economic and social policy of the Party and the Revolution, as well as the national plan for social economic development until 2030.

According to the political leader, the criteria issued and the proposals made on these last two issues point out the need to update and modify some guidelines, incorporate new ones, correct deviations, look for reserves and also make proposals to overcome the situation faced by the country in the economic order.

As in previous plenary sessions, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee will report on its work.

It will also analyze the actions and compliance with the protocols established in terms of attention to gender violence, as this is a social problem.

The meeting, Perez assured, will constitute a space to reaffirm the commitment to continue building socialism and to promote with greater energy the productive movement that the Caribbean country needs to overcome the limitations imposed by the US blockade.

According to the statutes of the PCC, the Central Committee is the highest organ of leadership of the organization between congresses and is empowered to make the decisions it deems appropriate in order to comply with the policies and agreements of its conclave.
