Survey distinguishes between presidential pre-candidates in Uruguay

The mayor of the Uruguayan city of Canelones, Yamandú Orsi, has today an electoral preference of 55 percent in the opposition Broad Front (FA), according to a poll by the pollster Opción.

The new poll shows the mayor of Montevideo, Carolina Cosse, with 33 percent, Senator Mario Bergara with five percent and the mayor of Salto, Andrés Lima, with one percent in the internal FA competition for the elections of October 2024.

The four must be confirmed as presidential candidates by the FA congress to be held between December 8 and 10 in Montevideo.

Regarding the competition in the ruling National Party, the Secretary of the Presidency, Álvaro Delgado, leads with 61 percent, ahead of the leader of the Sumar current, Laura Raffo (26 percent). Then follows Senator Jorge Gandini, with 9 percent.

Opción said that in the case of the Colorado Party he had to rely on an «approximation of the level of popularity of the pre-candidates» since the sample «was too small to give valid results».

The consulting firm gave an advantage to the former president of the National Education Administration Robert Silva with 30 percent, followed by Congressman Gustavo Zubía, with 15 percent, followed by four other candidates.
