Sugarcane growers in Majagua join the sugar cane harvest

To date, more than 500 tons of sugar cane have been sent to the industry by the groups of the municipality of Majagua, which is at the initial stage of the current sugar campaign.

Such is the case of the Nieves Montano Cuellar Cooperative, from the «La Victoria» Community, and the Gratitude Cooperative Production Unit, from the town of the same name, both located in the demarcation of the «Orlando Gonzalez» Popular Council.

Although at the moment their mechanized cutting platoons are stopped due to the humidity of the soils because of the rains at the end of the year, their members hope to soon start cutting and transporting the grass.

The raw material is transported from the fields of southwest Avila to the «Melanio Hernández» sugar factory in the town of Tuinicú, in the state of Espiritu, through the reception centers located in the town of «Valle» and in the yard of the «Uruguay» sugar mill in Jatibonico.

The purpose of the five production units in the municipality of Majagua is to pay more than 30 thousand tons of sugar cane to the industry this harvest, although three are still to be incorporated, two of them are working on the completion of resources and in the case of «La Fidelina», they have programmed their cuts for March.
