The students of Ciego de Ávila evoked in the Camilo Cienfuegos square the speech of the Hero of Yaguajay to more than 30 thousand Avilanians about the importance of the Agrarian Reform Law, precisely on September 20, but in 1959.
Sixty-three years after such a significant event, high school and higher education students ratified their commitment to participate in the referendum on the Family Code, both to vote and to support and guard the polling stations.
If in its historical moment the Agrarian Reform Law meant banishing the latifundia and vindicating the Cuban peasantry; the Family Code today becomes a legal guarantee that strengthens us as a society, and vindicates all types of families living together in Cuba.
Hence, 63 years after Camilo Cienfuegos’ speech to the avilanian people about the Agrarian Reform, the student body also ratifies the importance of the conscious vote next Sunday for the legal recognition of family rights.
