Solidarity movements strengthen ties with Ciego de Avila

Different friendship movements strengthened their ties with Cuba and Ciego de Avila during 2023, said Víctor Gaute López, vice-president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) during the Assembly of Balance of that organization in this province.

In a year marked by solidarity, the hospitals Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola, in the capital of Avila, and Roberto Rodriguez Fernandez, in Moron, benefited with medicines and medical supplies thanks to the cooperation of foreign friends.

Maternal homes, homes for children without family support and communities with difficult access also received help from various countries such as Italy, St. Lucia and the United States, with Bridges of Love, thanks to the close relations with ICAP in Ciego de Avila.

Attention to foreign students is a priority in the work of Avila officials, who have developed a hundred direct activities despite the lack of resources, emphasized Tania María Companioni, provincial delegate of that institution.

Meanwhile, Gaute Lopez highlighted the work of the delegation of this province and urged its collective to continue with firm steps in the midst of the current economic situation of the country, aggravated by the U.S. blockade.

In the ICAP balance sheet in Ciego de Avila, the combat in social networking sites to show the Cuban reality was pondered, while the genocide against the Palestinian people was condemned and a cease-fire was demanded. (Written by Mariesly Wong Morales)
