Demonstrations of support for our country are multiplying, as evidenced by the activists of the Puerto Rican brigade Juan Rius Rivera and the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Network of Solidarity with Cuba and Just Causes, who travelled to the Island laden with medicines, supplies and equipment destined for public health and education.

On this occasion, alongside the material contribution, they are carrying out a commemorative programme prepared by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in tribute to the centenary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

That call was also answered by members of the US brigade Venceremos and other groups from Europe, who will attend the First International Colloquium Fidel: Legacy and Future, where ICAP will participate in a commission dedicated to the vision of the Cuban Revolution leader on the subject of solidarity.

More Solidarity Contributions

Very close to the ICAP’s Julio Antonio Mella International Camp in Caimito, Artemisa province, the Flores Betancourt teaching polyclinic now has a photovoltaic panel kit donated by the Puerto Rican brigade Juan Rius Rivera and the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Network, which guarantees the continuity of essential processes and the vitality of services to the population.

The activists also contributed medicines and other materials, as a prelude to the opening ceremony of this new solidarity campaign, where Fernando González Llort, president of ICAP, thanked the shows of support from more than a hundred friends from nine countries.

The Hero of the Republic praised the aid and donations, which include the 10 de Octubre Clinical Surgical Hospital, a gesture that becomes even greater in such difficult times for the Cuban people, who are suffering the effects of the energy siege and the tightened economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.

The brigade members raised their voices to reiterate that Cuba is not alone and to support the affirmation of the ICAP president when he stressed that, faced with the threats and sanctions of Donald Trump’s administration against the largest island of the Antilles, the strength and unity of a people that will never bow down are essential.

It also transpired that the International Colloquium Fidel: Legacy and Future will take place from 10 to 12 August at the Havana Convention Palace, as part of the activities for the centenary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution.
