The farmers of Ciego de Avila won, as a great prize, the venue for the national event on 3 October, the Day of the Agricultural Worker.
In the trade union emulation, in which the provinces of Sancti Spiritus and Guantánamo stood out, the Empresa Agropecuaria La Cuba in Avila was selected for the central activity of awarding the Marcos Martí distinction and the 85th anniversary seal of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (Cuban Workers’ Union).
In addition, the most outstanding collectives in food production will receive recognition, and the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Cuban Association of Agricultural and Forestry Technicians will be presented.
Lázaro Miguel Bravo Rodríguez, director of Science, Innovation and Communication of the Provincial Delegation of Agriculture in Ciego de Ávila, informed that La Cuba was chosen for the activity because it was one of the best in the country in the recently concluded spring planting campaign, the results of which contributed to the planting of more than 2,700 hectares more than planned in the province.
The leader mentioned among the tasks prioritised in homage to the Day of the Agricultural Worker, the work of the cold planting season and the direct contact with the productive bases to guarantee the fulfilment of the plans of meat and bovine milk contracted for the balance of food distribution.
