The birth of Simón Bolívar, «The Liberator of America» 241 years ago, was remembered today in a talk held at the «Simón Reyes Hernández» Provincial Museum in Ciego de Ávila.
In the activity, Alfredo Casis Muñoz, secretary of the executive of the José Martí Society in the territory of Avila, highlighted the figure of the independence hero, who became great in the struggle for the most dispossessed classes, for the union of all Latin America, for internationalism and anti-imperialism.
During the commemoration, in which workers of this cultural institution and Artex took part, it was also recalled that as strategist and commander of the patriotic forces, Bolívar fought the decisive battles to achieve the emancipation of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.
Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar Palacios y Blanco, who was born in Caracas on 24 July 1783 into a wealthy family, embraced political and military life in his dream of uniting the Patria Grande.
