The XXXI edition of the Tomás Jiménez in Memoriam National Chess Tournament begins this Thursday in Ciego de Ávila, with headquarters at the Eleazar Jiménez Academy and the Antonio Ñico García Sports History Hall.
FIDE Master Kebert Solares is the main figure of the Avila territory, having just participated with good performances in the international tournaments José Raúl Capablanca and Guillermo García, in Havana and Villa Clara, respectively.
The event, which runs until the 30th, welcomes players from different provinces in the school, youth and social categories.
The first edition was held in 1983, won by FIDE Master Adalberto Gómez Segura.
