Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Republic, and Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP), yesterday carried out the signing and endorsement ceremony of the recently approved Code of Families.
In the ceremony that took place at the Palace of the Revolution, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba expressed his recognition to the people for their participation in the referendum in what constituted a civic, democratic and honest act; and to all those who contributed to the construction of the Code.
Homero Acosta, Secretary of the Council of State and of the ANPP, explained that after the approval of the Code by means of the popular referendum, the signature and endorsement of the same is required for its publication tomorrow in the Official Gazette of the Republic.
One has done many signatures in life, but not like this one, with so much satisfaction and joy for the transcendental victory for the Homeland and socialism, said Lazo Hernández before signing the document.
For his part, Díaz-Canel affirmed that this endorsement is a tribute to Fidel, Vilma, Raúl, and all those who gave the fundamental impulses so that today we have in society the understanding we have on family issues.
Oscar Manuel Silveira Martínez, Minister of Justice, assured that the conditions are created in the institutions so that, based on an adequate training process that has been carried out, the Code will be properly complied with.
