People without blackout

High generators of human energy recharge their commitments with the celebration of the Electricity Sector Workers’ Day this January 14.

The constant blackouts caused something similar to short circuits in the quality of life of the Cuban population during the past year, but the high generators of human energy that today recharge with motivation their commitments for 2023, with the celebration of the Electricity Sector Workers’ Day, which is celebrated every January 14 in the country, were not turned off.

Gone are the days characterized by «alumbrones», a popular term used to characterize the time without service interruptions.

In Ciego de Ávila, for example, they lasted an average of three and a half hours, an alternative applied in this province despite the critical energy situation, with a view to not prolonging the effects on economic and household activities.

The last annual stage was marked by the insufficient securing of material resources. However, the execution of the investment plan grew by some 75 million pesos compared to 2021, in relation to actions to ensure greater reliability of electricity in the continuity of the development of tourism infrastructure, agri-food and housing programs, among other priorities.

The assembly of 165 photovoltaic systems of the project to increase the energy strength of the communities in the face of extreme meteorological events, the completion of the 33 kilovolt express circuit to feed the high density polyethylene piping company Ciegoplast, the elimination of clotheslines, the elimination of the use of the electricity supply system, the installation of the photovoltaic systems of the project to increase the energy strength of the communities in the face of extreme meteorological events, the completion of the 33 kilovolt express circuit for the supply of the high density polyethylene piping company Ciegoplast, the elimination of clotheslines, the electrification of three neighborhoods and 32 agricultural areas of the La Cuba production center, the opening of 981 new electricity services, the installation of energy-saving light bulbs in public lighting and the replacement of 1,194 defective meters.

The new year opens its doors with more light and the motivation of men like Ignacio Pérez Ortega, Vicente Gómez Quiñones, Minel Chinea Ferrer, Gregorio Solano Hipólito and Emilio Mena Rodríguez, who treasure 40 years of successful uninterrupted work on the energy front and were stimulated in the provincial act for the Electricity Sector Workers’ Day in Ciego de Ávila, in the presence of Vicente de la O Levy, Minister of Energy and Mines.

The solidarity and unlimited dedication to the recovery tasks in the provinces of Havana and Pinar del Río affected by hurricane Ian in September 2022, is another convincing example that the electrical workers of Avila are people without blackout in the face of any contingency.
