Palestine accused Israel of violating Gaza aid resolution

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry today accused Israel of deliberately obstructing the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2720, which calls for speeding up and facilitating aid to the people of Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants denounced in a statement that the country’s aim is to minimize the entry of basic necessities into the enclave in order to deepen the humanitarian crisis.

It is necessary to protect civilians from the extermination and slaughter carried out by the Israeli army, it stressed.

The Ministry stated that this strategy is part of a plan to «complete the genocidal war against our people» through various actions, ranging from extermination by bombardment to policies of hunger, starvation or death due to epidemics.

The Ministry warned of Israel’s attempts to forcibly control any UN mechanism adopted to ensure the delivery of aid to Palestinian civilians.

In the midst of this scenario, the Foreign Ministry urged the Security Council to pass a resolution demanding an end to the aggression against Gaza.

Numerous UN agencies and NGOs have been warning since October about the serious humanitarian crisis in that enclave due to the bombs and the Israeli blockade, which prevents the entry of the necessary quantities of water, food, medicines and fuel.
