Through this publication we remember José Ramón León «Moropo», an emblematic figure of sport in the municipality of Ciro Redondo, in Ciego de Ávila, who with his peculiar way of seeing life devoted himself to athletics.

He was director of baseball teams in the Liga Azucarera and other events, but his most important role was as an activist, being one of the most outstanding in the country in the 80s and 90s of the previous century.

For his results, he received various incentives and awards, participating as a guest at the Pan American Games in Havana in 1991. With a fine sense of humour and great human values, he entered forever in the history of Avila’s sport.
