Match in tribute to the 150th anniversary of the first officially registered game in Cuba

With the blessing of the writer Alejo Carpentier, emblematic figures of national baseball appear in the teams that will compete this Friday at the mythical Palmar de Junco stadium in Matanzas, as a tribute to the 150th anniversary of the first officially registered game in Cuba.

Men like Juan Manrique, Julio Germán Fernández, Frank Camilo Morejón and Lázaro de la Torre, among others, will delight the fans who will attend the game, which will recall the historic date in that venue, on 27 December 1874, in which the visiting team defeated the home team with a final score of 51×9.

Beyond a winner and a loser, this Friday’s duel will close with a flourish the activities that the Cuban Baseball-Softball Federation has carried out in memory of the 160th anniversary of this sport on the island.
