Humberto Fleitas Portal and Yamilé Farías Hidalgo were selected by the delegates of the Assembly of People’s Power in the municipality of Majagua to occupy the positions of president and vice president of the referred governing body.
Fleitas Portal, current director of the Base Business Unit of Oil Extraction of the locality is 52 years old, has a degree in Law and is a deputy to the Cuban Parliament, while Yamilé Farías Hidalgo, 46 years old, has a Master’s Degree in Education Sciences and works as a political official.
The Assembly of People’s Power in Majagua has a total of 39 delegates and the act of constitution held at the Cine Nieves, was attended by the member of the Central Committee and its first secretary in the province Liván Izquierdo Alonso and the governor Tomás Alexis Martín Venegas, among other leaders.
Alicia Álvarez Perdomo, 20 years old and delegate of Limones Palmero district 37, as the youngest of the group, was in charge of reading the oath, which was later signed by the remaining members, to whom the presidency handed over the seal that officially accredits them.
Licet Pérez La O was also elected as the new secretary, and Nilda Bárbara Rodríguez Castillo, who concludes her functions as president of the Popular Council of Orlando González, Belkis García Camp and Ernesto Linares Ojeda, outgoing vice-president and president of the Governing Body, who will fulfill other responsibilities that may be assigned to them, also received awards.
Humberto Fleitas Portal, in his capacity as the new president of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, in his speech said that the new elected team will know how to work with the established legal norms. Meanwhile, Misleydi Abad Modey, first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, in her conclusions called for unity with its blue and red, red and blue shades, to continue being the identity of this land where people dance and triumph.
