Local initiative helps retirees and pensioners in Ciro Redondo

A low-cost food module is delivered to 200 inhabitants of the East and West Urban Popular Councils. The solidarity contribution will be extended to rural areas.

A food aid programme for retired people and those protected by social assistance began in the last few hours in Pina, the head town of the municipality of Ciro Redondo in the municipality of Avila.

Arianna Gómez Ruiz, Vice Intendant of the Municipal Administration Council, informed that the experience began with 200 inhabitants of the East and West Popular Councils, who receive a pension of 1528 pesos and were benefited with a module made up of bananas, vianda and fruit, tomato, guava and croquette dough, for an amount of 280.00 pesos.

The official argued that this type of solidarity contribution will be made twice a month and will be extended to the other four Popular Councils of the Pinar del Río territory, in whose management the social workers, the Labour Directorate, the Municipal Agro-industrial Company, the productive bases among which the José Maceo Credit and Services Cooperative, among other organisms, participate under the direction of the Government Body.

The municipality of Ciro Redondo has more than 4,300 pensioners and 150 assisted persons, included in a local initiative of low-cost food aid that began recently, in accordance with the Law of Food Sovereignty and Nutritional Security.
