July 26: Priority tasks in Ciego de Ávila

Demand growth daily rhythm in agricultural work and food production. Ciego de Ávila headquarters of the national event of the Azcuba group

Replanting and manual cleaning of sugarcane plantations became top priority tasks in the province of Ciego de Ávila, in homage to the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks.

Both activities are running behind schedule, for which reason it was called to increase the daily rhythm and incorporate more workers into these actions, which were urged by Liván Izquierdo Alonso, a member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Party in the Avilanian territory.

At the meeting to check the provincial sugar cane and food production program by the Azcuba Business Group, it was learned that repairs to agro-industrial machinery recently began with a view to the next harvest, work that will advance as supply of resources improves, mainly industrial gases and electrodes for welding in sugar factories and fuel for sugarcane work, considered the fundamental resource constraints today.

Eduardo Larrosa Vázquez, director of Coordination and Technical Supervision of Azcuba in the province, reported that the four Sugar Agroindustrial factories have complied to date with the program for enlisting agricultural machinery that will intervene in the next sugar season, and argued that they are also working for the increase in food production that reports delays in all items, such as milk, meat and various crops.

He argued that the production of molasses will continue from next July at the Primero de Enero mill, with a view to ensuring the production of alcohol for rums. «The torula yeast factory is paralyzed due to lack of financing for the purchase of inputs and the bagasse board factory will resume operations in September, after solving breaks in the bands of the sixth loader.»

It was also reported at the meeting held in the municipality of Ciro Redondo, about the mobilization next Sunday towards sugarcane areas of the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production Santa Lucía and the national event for the preparation and organization of the 2023-2024 sugar contest that will have by headquarters to Ciego de Ávila, next July, with the presence of more than 170 representatives of the Sugar Agroindustrial facories from 13 provinces and specialists from the mechanization and transportation areas of AzCuba and from insurance entities to the sector, such as Azutecnia , Tranzmec and Azumat, among others.

Enesto Blanco, administrator of the Ecuador mill, said that alternatives are applied in the repair of the machinery to have the mill ready in November, but «the effects due to the deficit of industrial gases cool the enthusiasm of the group.» Photo: José Luis Martínez Alejo
