Holguín is crowned in the finals of National Boxing Series

The eastern province scored 287 points, ahead of Camagüey (271) and Cienfuegos (253).

Holguín did not lose a single round and with 287 points was proclaimed champion for the first time in the final of the National Boxing Series, which came to an end this Sunday at the Rafael Fortún multi-purpose hall in Camagüey.

In the intermediate round of the seventh and final round, the combative team from Holguin drew 40-40 with Guantanamo and reached an unreachable figure for Camagüey, which drew 38-38 against Cienfuegos and totalled 271 units.

The southerners took third place (253). Behind them were Matanzas (226), Guantánamo (215), Pinar del Río (198) and Sancti Spíritus (146).

Three fighters won their four fights: Jesús Álvarez (48 kg), Raikol Leonard (75 kg) and Jorge Soto (80 kg).

This Sunday saw the retirement from active sport of Yunier Fábregas (51 kg), who reinforced Holguín and who was proclaimed world youth champion in 2002.

Julio Galloso (MTZ, 57 kg) and Rolando Martínez (GTM) were awarded the prize for the best fight of the competition, while Keylor García (GTM, 75 kg) won the prize for the most technical boxer.

Olympic champion Erislandy Álvarez (CFG, 63.5 kg) was named most combative fighter.
