Two members of the national secretariat of the health union, Chavely Villavicencio Galbán and Dailín Sordo Peláez, visited the municipality of Chambas to learn about the implementation of wage measures in the sector and working conditions, including food guarantees.

During their visit, the officials toured the «Julio Castillo» polyclinic and the Home for the Elderly, where they showed interest in the welfare of the workers and residents.

At the «Julio Castillo» polyclinic, Villavicencio Galbán and Sordo Peláez met with the staff of the medical ward to discuss the working conditions and the challenges they face in their daily work.

Dailín Luna Roque de Escobar, municipal secretary of the health union, said that in the case of the nursing home, the proposal to grant it the status of a moral collective is being analysed. It would be the first centre of its kind in the country to receive this distinction.

The visit to the municipality of Chambas by two members of the national secretariat of the health union is part of the actions carried out by the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) to check the union’s work at the grassroots level. This shows the importance given to guaranteeing the fulfilment of labour rights (Yaimer Mujica Pérez).
