Fidel Castro’s thoughts debated in Cuba

Cuban school children debated yesterday in this capital on the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, and his impact on international relations, teachings and contributions to his strategic thinking in that field.

Participating in the panel,  held at the Fidel Castro Center, here were researchers Katiuska Blanco, Elier Ramirez and René González Barrios (director), as well as Hassan Pérez, from the Center for Hemispheric and U.S. Studies of the University of Havana.

This theoretical meeting took place in the context of the VII Conference of Strategic Studies, which from the 26th to the 28th will have as its thematic axis the Poles of power, multilateralism and dilemmas of the transition to a new international order.

The event is organized by the Center for International Policy Research (CIPI), with the co-sponsorship of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (Clacso) and will be held in a hybrid format.

Participation will be in the form of presentations in panels and special interventions and virtual or in-person attendance to the Conference sessions.

Written papers and posters will also be presented and their publication on the CIPI website will be considered by the Organizing Committee of the event.

Among the main themes are «Geopolitics, conflicts and redefinition of alliances. Global and regional impacts», and «Articulation and proposals from the Global South. Multilateralism under debate in the transition of the international order».

Also included are «Issues on the global and regional agenda in a context of transition: migration, debt, climate change, health and technology» and «Extreme political discourse and manipulation of information. Infoxication from digital platforms».

The debates will be broadcast live on the Youtube channel CIPICuba, and the recordings of the presentations and special interventions will be disseminated through the Center’s website and institutional profiles, while the written works will remain in digital format.
