Cuba’s National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP, parliament) will audit the activity of the Ministry of Transport (Mitrans), according to the president of the legislative body, Esteban Lazo, it was reported today.
According to national press reports, the ANPP will follow up on the mandate given by parliamentarians at the last session of the body in which they agreed on the highest level of oversight of Mitrans, based on a work programme with 17 fundamental actions.
To this end, the participation of workers in the sector and the public will be sought through various information platforms, including social networks and the transport organisation’s website.
The verification exercise will evaluate the fulfilment of Mitrans’ specific missions, the passenger and freight transport plan and the sector’s impact on the government’s programme to stimulate the economy.
Members of the Cuban parliament will also analyse the ministry’s results in the application of science and technology, digital transformation and the implementation of the law on social communication in the sector.
