Yojander Fuentes completed the tally with a 5-0 win over Russia’s Islam Ibragimov.
Cuba validated on Wednesday the aim of having two semi-finalists at the World Youth Boxing Championships in Budva 2024.
The challenge was taken up by Yojander Fuentes, who went 5-0 over Russia’s Islam Ibragimov (30-27, 30-27, 29-28, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27) to secure bronze and a place in the next round.
In doing so, he joined teammate David Espinosa (67 kg), who made a similar breakthrough on the previous day, when he defeated Moldova’s Danil Guranda by knockout in the second round.
Both will return to the ring this Thursday to fight for silver. Fuentes against Armenian Arstamyan Erik and Espinosa against Mexican Juan Diego Flores.
Only if one or the other is crowned will the island equal the number of titles won two years ago in La Nucia, Spain.
