In addition to them, there are four other champions at this level: the pugilists Julio César La Cruz and Arlen López, the classical gladiator Luis Orta and the shooter Leuris Pupo, all of whom are key players in the mission to win a place among the top 20 countries in the medal standings.
For the Paralympic competition, 17 athletes have so far qualified in six disciplines. Runner Omara Durand and long jumper Robiel Yankiel Sol Cervantes will have the honour of carrying the Lone Star flag at the opening ceremony on 28 August.
With swimmer Lorenzo Perez as the other titlist on these stages, the delegation can grow to 22 exponents from nine parade sports, and will arrive in the French capital poised to place between 25th and 30th.
