The International Convention ‘Cuba Salud’ 2025, to be inaugurated on 21 April, will be a magnificent space for sharing work experiences in medical care, science and innovation from all over the country and the world, to strengthen the continuous training of health professionals, José Angel Portal Miranda, Cuba’s Minister of Public Health, told the press today.
After touring the Havana Convention Palace and the Pabexpo fairgrounds, the venues for the event and associated fairs, the official explained that this event is self-financed by the participation of foreign delegates and Cubans themselves, and that it is held every three years.
He stressed that it is vitally important to showcase the achievements made in universal health coverage with other attending countries, despite the lack of resources on the Caribbean island caused by the intensification of unilateral coercive measures by the United States against the largest of the Antilles.
The Cuban health model and its response to the 2030 health agenda will be at the centre of the debates with an integrated and holistic approach, under the One Health paradigm, he said.
At the same time, the 16th International Health for All Fair and the 2nd Medical Tourism and Wellness Fair, associated with the Convention, will discuss new opportunities to acquire resources for the country, expand cooperation relations and incorporate new commercial partners, he said.
Portal Miranda also said that until 25 April, Havana will witness the best of the region’s health thinking, with the participation of almost twenty health ministers from around the world and specialists in the medical sciences from Cuba and other nations.
He acknowledged that it will be a great opportunity for all health workers, who are the pride of this nation for all their work in terms of saving lives and guaranteeing all services to the population in the midst of all the complexities.
The head of the Cuban health sector visited the 14 stands of the Cuba Health 2025 Convention, at the Palacio de las Convenciones, to show the results of the Family Doctor and Nurse Programme, stomatological services, diseases, academic and professional training, achievements in science and innovation, natural medicine products and physical rehabilitation.
He was also interested in the details of the exhibition on Cuban medical collaboration and an exhibition of books from the Medical Sciences Publishing House.
He also checked the final details of the preparations at the Pabexpo Exhibition Centre, where the XVI International Health for All Fair and II Medical Tourism and Wellness Fair will take place, with the setting up of more than 100 stands and the participation of 229 companies.
