Leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) will hold today the VII Plenary Session of the Central Committee with an eye on priority issues for the country in the economic, political and social fields.
Prior to the meeting, which will be held until tomorrow, a broad consultation process of the documents to be submitted for analysis was carried out in more than 34 thousand meetings, in which 750 thousand people participated.
According to the head of the PCC’s Organization Department, Roberto Pérez, the criteria received indicate the need to update, modify and incorporate new guidelines to the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution and the National Development Plan until 2030, with the aim of overcoming the current situation faced by the country in the economic order.
The forum will also analyze the political-ideological work in compliance with the Ideas, concepts and guidelines emanating from the eighth congress of the PCC, held in April 2021.
Likewise, the actions and compliance with the protocols established in terms of attention to gender violence will be evaluated, as this is a social problem.
The conclave, Perez assured, will constitute a space to reaffirm the commitment to continue building socialism and to promote with greater energy the productive movement that the Caribbean country needs to overcome the limitations imposed by the US blockade.
As has happened in previous plenary sessions, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the PCC will give an account of its work since the last event of this kind.
In accordance with the statutes of the PCC, the Central Committee is the highest organ of leadership of the organization between congresses and is empowered to make the decisions it deems pertinent in order to fulfill the policies and agreements of its conclave.
