The creation of cane cutting fronts appears among the strategies being applied in the municipality of Majagua, in view of the beginning of the new sugar campaign in the first days of December.
Yulie Osorio Vargas, president of the Agricultural Production Cooperative CPA Panchito Gómez Toro and the only woman in the avilanian southwest who carries out this work, said that through this modality of work, better use is made of the resources, which is equivalent to reducing costs.
This strategy consists, she pointed out, in assigning to the selected platoons more than one unit for the execution of the productive process and gave the example of her group, where only four of the trucks that make up the cooperative’s fleet will be permanently involved in the campaign.
However, she argued that the combined harvesters and other harvesting equipment of this cooperative structure, after receiving the corresponding repairs, will remain parked in case any fortuitous situation arises that makes it necessary for them to come into action, as a way to avoid interruptions in the shipment of raw material to industries in Sancti Spiritus.
Osorio Vargas also referred to the issue of diversification by having sugar cane for sugar and honeys for the production of alcohol, while workshop manager Jesús Marrero Consuegra highlighted the significant progress made in the repairs.
