Through the Ciro Redondo sugar mill, the province of Ciego de Ávila will begin the sugar harvest in the next few days to produce more than 54,000 tons during this campaign.
According to Raidel López Santana, deputy director of coordination and technical supervision of Azcuba Sugar Group, the most modern sugar mill in Cuba will grind most of the sugar cane available in the province, in synchronization with the nearby bioelectric plant.
The sugar millers are also working to conclude the repair works of the Ecuador sugar mill so that it can start up its equipment before the end of December, while the Primero de Enero industry is getting ready to process if necessary.
Ciego de Ávila will have to carry out a short harvest with raw material from several municipalities in view of the challenge of improving service to agro-industrialists and preparing means of transportation and collection centers to stimulate efficiency.
