More than deserved is the celebration of 31 years of work of the Center for Environmental Engineering and Biodiversity (CIBA), of Ciego de Ávila, which yesterday qualified the scientific community of the province.

And it is that the CIBA covers many aspects of the development of this territory, ranging from the economy, agriculture, climate change, among other activities, hence this institution belongs to the Agency of the Environment of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.

Their performance is so important that it favors the realization of the Plan National Economic and Social Development of Cuba until the year 2030 and at compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations Organization (UN).

The researchers at the center make contributions of great importance to the Avilanian agriculture as organic fertilizers to replace, in some measure, expensive imports and facilitate productions of the program food in the province

And so wide is the range of his investigations that the rehabilitation of coastal dunes in the Jardines del Rey tourist resort, north of Ciego de Ávila, to maintain the beauty of its beaches and the ecosystem of that area.

Caring for environmental factors, renewable energy production, the possible dangers of both periods of drought, as well as possible floods…, there are many aspects of studies and contributions, to improve life in the Avilanian territory.

And so many endeavors achieve results thanks to the ability and work of researchers from the Center for Environmental Engineering and Biodiversity of Ciego de Ávila, a scientific institution that wins its coming of age with numerous projects and successes.
