The Doctor «Alfonso Garnier Hernández» Provincial Blood Bank in Ciego de Ávila will be one of the venues for the fourth edition of Latin America United Donate Blood (LUDS 2024), a simultaneous collection in the countries of the region.

Dr. Nilka Pita Alemán, Director of Health in Avila, informed that the event began on the ninth of this month and has among its objectives the development of an educational activity aimed at blood service professionals, including medical, technical and nursing staff, and the community in general.

He explained that this movement is an initiative of the Ibero-American Cooperative Group of Transfusion Medicine (GCIAMT) and community promoters of blood donation, and brings together citizens from more than 16 Latin American nations.

Pita Alemán added that LUDS 2024 also aims to raise awareness of the need for voluntary donors, and to promote the importance of voluntary blood donation, framed in humanitarian principles and unity.
He also announced that training meetings will be held on best practices in the processes of promotion, care and monitoring of blood donors.

In the province of Avileña, all voluntary donors from the Red Cross, the Cuban Workers’ Central (CTC) and the Committee for the Defence of the Revolution (CDR) are invited to the fourth edition of Latin America United Donate Blood, which will take place tomorrow.
