Arts Festival in two phases due to stage mechanics of Teatro Principal

The second edition of the cultural event Havanensis, Arts Festival, will take place in Ciego de Ávila in two phases. The first part, theoretical, will take place on the 18th and 19th of September, and will include workshops, conferences and showcases.

The stage mechanics of the Avilanian coliseum, which includes large spectacles, was postponed due to the unavailability of the Teatro Principal, which is in the middle of a complex technical repair of its stage, and will be carried out after its conclusion, planned before the end of the year.

The organisation of Havanensis, under the charge of Latin Luli’s Production, will count on the participation of relevant personalities of national and local culture, among them the choir director Jorge Rivero, dance professors and photographers, as well as producers and television directors, including Juan Manuel Rivas as a special guest actor.

The agenda for the 18th of September includes an inauguration at the UNEAC with a photographic showcase, a master class in singing, one in dance, the presentation of a documentary, an art therapy workshop and a fine arts meeting. The session will conclude with a closing gala that promises to be a party with performances by groups such as Guayza, Caminos Teatro and the company Ibero Dance.

The Avilanian cultural authorities explained that the repair of the Teatro Principal implies the integral assembly of a new stage mechanics system, which made its immediate use in large-scale spectacles impossible. However, they highlighted the formative value of this first phase of Havanensis for the self-improvement of the artists, paving the way for the culmination of the event with first-rate spectacles at the end of 2025.
